I took this picture of black bear and wolf tracks during our trip up the Wood River. I put one of my hand-prints at the bottom of the picture to give an idea of scale. The photograph was taken on a sandbar next to the river where I had seen a lynx relaxing earlier that morning. The lynx had all four of its legs tucked underneath it and sat watching the river flow by. I got a great view of the lynx through my binoculars but it was too far away to get a good picture with my cheap camera.
As you can see, the black bear tracks were a little smaller than my handprint. The grizzly
tracks I found during the survey were up one and a half times as big as my hand!
